- He is based off of Madballs, a popular bouncing toy that was made in the mid-1980s. Boglin's appearance in his first level artwork is similar to a Madball.
- He is based off of Boglin, a series of toy puppets that are goblin-themed, made of flexible rubber, and could be manipulated to represent speech and facial expressions similar to his second level artwork.
- His name is an anagram of the word, 'goblin', which he is.
