- He is based off of Jesters, medieval jokesters who were employed by monarchs to entertain guests and often did this by juggling, telling jokes and wearing colored clothes and eccentric hats like Buf00n.
- His skills as a juggler as well as his clothing were often a trademark of Jesters.
- This is further solidified by his background as a descendants of the Freaks, supposedly Zoltan and Twyh.
- His name is a play on the word 'buffoon', which is used to describe a ridiculous but amusing person or in short terms, a clown, which fits his origins as a clown as well as a descendant of the Freaks.
- He is one of the few Vortex/Hive cards to be related to a clan, but not mention the exact members, though his artworks seem to imply he is related to Zoltan and Twyh.
- He is one of the cards with the Versus ability.
- However, his ability targets the Freak & Oculus.
