El Goonch is a real mystery, no one really knows who he is because no one's ever seen him without his mask on. He's been sleeping, eating and fighting in it since the tender age of five. And being an outstanding fighter, he was quickly spotted and recruited by the Huracan clan. And as they say, a masked fighter - even if the mask if different to what they're used to - is always a masked fighter. This little idiosyncrasy of his has opened the doors to him of a clan who has allowed him to really become someone in this city where fighting reigns supreme.

- He might be a nod to one of the greatest wrestlers of the lucha libre tradition in Mexico, Mil Mascaras. Like El Goonch, Mil Mascaras was also known to be never seen unmasked and hiding his identity.
- His habit of never taking off his mask could be a nod to Din Djarin, also known as the Mandalorian from the Star Wars universe, who also never took off his helmet, due to his code and tradition.
- His epithet "goonch" is a fish also known as the giant devil catfish (Bagarius yarelli) found in rivers in the Indian subcontinent. Due to its length (up to 2m) and its weight (over 200 pounds), it is believed to be the largest species in the genus.
