Almost 14 years after a bloody war, a soldier becomes, like other fallen soldiers before him, a NearDeath Soldier: these are the corpses of resuscitated soldiers, who are considerably stronger and resistant than anyone or thing in their path, and totally devoid of feeling. Colonel VanDam is head of the NDJS (NearDeath La Junta Squad).

- This is the first first La Junta card drawn by Mikuloctopus.
- He is based off of Luc Deveraux from the famous military science fiction action film, Universal Soldier interpreted for Jean-Claude Van Damme. Also, his name was taken from his last name.
- This makes the same card to be based off of Jean-Claude Van Damme, first was Steven Dan from Fang Pi Clang.
- His first level art is a reference to Sergeant Elias' death from the 1986 war film, Platoon, played by Williem Defoe.
